Goalie Event
When: November 30th, 5pm, SSS
Who: All NCRA Players interested in Goalie, U10 and up
RSVP: required
As most of our members are aware, we have lower goalie participation numbers than ideal for a robust program. Goalies are the backbone of a team, and a game cannot happen without them. We are actively seeking any interested players that would like to give this position a try: either for the first time or the tenth, we want to see players!
On November 30th at 5pm at Sackville Sports Stadium we are hosting a goalie event and REALLY need all the support we can get. It’s the perfect opportunity to get some great goalie instruction just before the Gary Field tournament, and to have some dedicated goalie-only time with other interested players.
We are looking for as many players as we can that are interested in learning more about the goalie position. We are focussing on U10 and U12 divisions, but have development opportunity for all divisions older than that at this session. Goalie Gear will be available at the rink for this session, but players must still bring their standard player gear to the session. Consideration may be given to last year U9 players, please reach out directly.
We realize it’s not the best ice time of the day but we are at the mercy of the ice we have available. It is absolutely crucial for the continued programming at NCRA that the position of goalie is encouraged to players by coaches and families, and that the development and continued positive environment for goalies is integral in every division.
While we work to encourage players to try the goalie position within our divisions, NCRA recognizes the growing burden of costs of being a goalie. While we do have gear available for borrowing, many goalies obviously prefer their own. Considering the need for more goalies and the added costs associated with the position, the NCRA board is currently reviewing cost-savings incentives for goalies. We hope to introduce them this season if possible, next season at the latest. As soon as they are known, we will communicate to members.
We are so excited to have our dedicated Goalie Coach Colin leading this session, with help from our many volunteer goalie parents and coaches. We hope you can encourage your player and teams to join us on Wednesday, November 30th at SSS for this opportunity.
